Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration, in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, in the grounds of the Cathedral (next to the Parish Office), Ennis. 1994............
At the start of the film "The Passion of the Christ" we see Jesus in agony in the Garden of Gethsemani, His disciples asleep nearby, evoking the cry from Him:- "could you not watch one hour with Me" Many down the years hear that cry of Jesus as a call to each one of us to come and watch with Him. |

On yet another occasion Jesus said:- "come to Me all you who labor and are heavily burdened and I will refresh you". So many who take part in Eucharistic Adoration tell us how they have indeed been refreshed; others speak of blessings and favors received by themselves and those for whom they pray. More speak of receiving the help that just enables them to carry on at times of tremendous personal grief and loss.
The links with each other:- we come to link up with the Lord and discover we also link-up with each other; in the silence of the Lord's Presence we not only learn to appreciate the Lord but also the company of those around us.
It's Eucharistic because many find Jesus so accessible in the visible Blessed Sacrament where He is present in a very special tangible way (our Church tells us He is present in Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity - in short, He isn't more present anywhere else, not even in Heaven!).

In 1994 the Chapel was opened next to the Parish Office in the grounds of the Cathedral, Ennis. Small, (seats 29), and intimate, it attracts people in their hundreds. Now, 10 years on, the vigil continues; 600 persons approx., of all ages and from all walks of life participate, with hundreds more dropping-in whenever they can. All are welcome in this unique place where you, the Lord, and silence reign. Books to suit all tastes are provided free, in addition to the basic facilities.
It flies:- from an initial understandable concern that the hour may drag, people discover that in fact it flies, and it is after all, only one hour out of one's entire week.
