It may seem hard to take on board that school is back in full swing, just as the migration of the swallows tells the tale of summer’s end, the return of our schools gives a similar reminder.
The Summer was disappointing weather wise, yet the blossoms bloomed, the cuckoo appeared, Oxygen (Music Festival…..) came and went for another year. Many travelled on Pilgrimages to different places and for those who got the look of sun on them, well that means they were in Spain or some such sun destination.
Let’s forget about what wasn’t and look ahead to what is and will be. Our upcoming term will afford us the opportunity, to reengage with all those who make us the people we are turning out to be…which of us is complete yet? We have many lessons yet to learn, we will only learn them from the voices of those we respect.
Jesus was the voice for the Disciples, we in turn still need to hear this voice. In today’s Gospel, we see Christ the teacher, like one on first day of term, full of passion for what He believes. He very definitely states, that the first thing we do is have it out alone, when there’s a problem. So, in contrast to what we so often do, He tells us, that when someone wrongs us, the first thing we should not do is involve others. So often, if the difficulty was left to the two involved, less baggage would be dragged into the dispute.
Are we open to learn? Are we listless, because its too early in the term or
are we energised with the freshness of this time of year, when much is made new, as if the sun has set on one season, ready to rise on another.
