Cathedral Choir are returning Sunday, August 31st @ 12.15pm Mass. Both returning members & people wishing to join, are asked to come to a Registration Evening in the Choir Rehearsal Room (above the Sacristy) on Mon Sept 1 between 7 &  8pm.

Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament with Confessions, Rosary & Benediction after 11am Mass.

 

Killaloe Diocesan Mini-Vigil at Knock on Saturday, 13th September commencing at 9.00 p.m. and finishing with Mass at 12.00 midnight. Bus departs St. Joseph's Church gate @ 6.00 p.m.

    Heritage Week
Clare Roots Society will conduct a Walk-through of old Drumcliff graveyard at 11.00am on this Sun August 31. A number of members who were involved in recording the grave stones have researched the background to particular graves & will share this knowledge.  This is an opportunity for the public to give details of ownership of unmarked graves in order that they can be included in the current survey, nearing completion. Friary News

Friary News

The Franciscan Order in Ireland held their Provincial Chapter during the first week of July, in Gormanston, Co. Meath.  As a result of this Chapter, the Ennis Franciscan Community welcomes two new members:

 

Fr. Hugh McKenna OFM

 

was appointed to Ennis as the Guardian of the Friary.  Fr. Hugh is a native of Dublin and is presently the Vicar Provincial of the Franciscan Order in Ireland.  Fr. Hugh has been a member of the Franciscan Community in Galway for the past three years.

 

Fr. Liam Kelly OFM

is a native of Co. Galway. 

For the past four years, Fr. Liam has lived & worked in Killarney, Co. Kerry.

 

Three members of the Community have been appointed to new fraternities & ministries:

 

Brother Niall O’Connell OFM, former Guardian of Ennis Friary,

Fr. Frank McGrath OFM & Brother Cathal Duddy OFM.

 

In warmly welcoming Fr. Hugh & Fr. Liam to Ennis we also wish our brothers, Niall, Frank & Cathal well as they continue their Franciscan witness in pastures new & we offer them the traditional Franciscan Blessing:  Pax et Bonum! (‘Peace and all Good!’).

 

Monthly Mass & meeting of The Secular Franciscan Order will take place in The Friary at 10am & meeting in St. Anthony’s Hall at 7pm on Wednesday September 3rd.
