It is 199 years this year since the first two Christian Brothers arrived in Ennis and sowed a seed that has flourished. Today Ennis CBS and Rice College owe a great debt of gratitude to these two brothers for laying the foundation that these schools flourish on today. On Tuesday 5th May, we celebrate the Feast of Blessed Edmund Rice and it is thirty years since the Beatification of Blessed Edmund Rice in Rome in October, 2006 by the late Pope John Paul II. We thank Brothers Dick, Denis & Michael for continuing the Edmund Rice presence in our town and for all the great opportunities the Brothers created for so many people in our parish.
