Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes
Fr. Michael to Celebrate Mass in Ennis
Fr Michael McCaul was ordained on Sunday 29th January 2023 in St. Eugene’s Cathedral, Derry. Fr Michael will celebrate Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Ennis, at 10.30am on Friday 10th February. Pupils from Ennis CBS, where Fr. Michael was a past pupil, will attend the Mass. After Mass Fr. Michael will give his first Blessing.
St Bridget’s Cross
On Wednesday 1st February, we celebrated the feast of St Bridget. St Bridget’s Crosses are available for sale in both the Friary and Parish Offices. €4 each with all the proceeds going to the Cathedral Renovation Appeal Our thanks to all the volunteers who sourced the rushes and those who created the crosses.
Launch of Bishop Fintan’s Book: His Homeward Journey
Bishop Fintan’s latest book on the life and ministry of the recently deceased Pope Benedict XVI was launched at the 6.30pm Mass in the Cathedral on Saturday 28th January and the book was available for sale after Mass. Published by Veritas, ‘His Homeward Journey’ is also available for sale at €10 from the Parish Office.
Ukrainian Christmas
On Saturday 7th January, the Ukrainian community celebrated the feast of Christmas. We welcome Fr Andyris CssR from the Redemptorist Community in Ukraine who travelled to Ireland from Ukraine at the invitation of the Redemptorist Community Mount St Alphonsus Limerick. Our thanks to Fr Seamus Enright CssR for his help.
Christmas at the Cathedral
Large crowds gathered at all masses in the parish on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. At the vigil Mass on Christmas Eve, Bishop Fintan received the Bethlehem Peace Light that Scouts all over the world carried from Bethlehem to their own countries. Commitment to Abstinence
Forty two first-year students from Rice College have made a commitment to abstain from alcohol and illicit drugs during their secondary school years. The school supported the students making the commitment with a presentation of certificates.
