Diocese of Killaloe Appointments Summer 2026

Published on June 23, 2026

Many thanks to all clergy and volunteer ministers for the outstanding work, the generous commitment to the pastoral care of all entrusted to them.  Special appreciation to all who have agreed to a change of appointment in response to diocesan needs.  The diocese at this point has close to half of the 58 parishes with no resident priest.  The age profile of clergy is increasing every year.  It is getting more and more challenging to maintain the level of pastoral care that people have enjoyed and expected for so long.  Bearing that on mind, the work of pastoral planning for the future and rationalisation will need to continue at a pace to address the significant challenges of the near future.

The appointment of the second group of Volunteer Ministers of Pastoral Care and Catechesis will be expected in Spring of 2027.

Appointment of co-ordinator of Primary Religious Education resource person imminent.  See diocesan website for details: https://www.killaloediocese.ie/killaloe-diocesan-religious-advisor-for-primary-schools/
