Bishop Fintan celebrated the 11.30 am Mass on Sunday 20th June in the Cathedral to honour the memory and pray for the soul of Patrick Morrissey the young 6-year-old who died in crossfire on 24th June 1921 in Lysaght’s Lane.
After Mass, the Mayor of Clare Cllr Mary Howard unveiled a plaque in memory of Patrick Morrissey in the car park in the Market near Lysaght’s Lane where the incident occurred one hundred years ago. Our thanks to the Clare Roots Society who have organised this day to honour the memory of an innocent young boy who died playing marbles.
Our thanks also to Pat Hanrahan for the photos.
