On Saturday 15th April 2023, 75 years to the day, people gathered in SS Peter & Paul Cathedral, Ennis to remember all those who died, were injured or were involved in the recovery operation on that fatal day on 15th April 1948 when the Pan Am Aircraft crashed on approach to Shannon Airport.
Bishop Fintan celebrated Mass in the Cathedral and then people went to the graveside in Drumcliffe Cemetery where prayers were offered, wreaths laid to remember and the Ennis Brass band played the last post.
