The Secular Franciscan Order (SFO) have prayers at 9.40a.m. in the Franciscan Friary on the 1st Wednesday of every month.

Cemetery Sunday

November 3, 2024

Sunday 3rd November was Cemetery Sunday in Ennis Parish. With exceptionally mild weather for this time of year, people came out in great numbers to the Columbarium in the Cathedral and Corrovorrin and Drumcliffe Cemeteries to pray and remember our beloved dead.

New Priest for Ennis

October 30, 2024
The latest Indian Priest to arrive in the Killaloe Diocese has been appointed to the Abbey Pastoral Area with residency in the Cathedral House.
Fr Jibin Jose PMI, a Missionary of Incarceration from Kerala, was ordained in 2019. After Ordination he worked in parish ministry before undergoing studies in Media and Communications.

Welcoming Bishop Ambrose of Kottapuram Diocese to Ennis Parish

Fr Joy had the pleasure of welcoming Bishop Ambrose of Kottapuram diocese to Ennis on Frida.y accompanied by two of his colleagues. It was also an occasion to welcome back Fr Feargus OFM, Rossnowlagh Friary, who was on a visit to Ennis. Fr Feargus served  nine years in Ennis.


Clare Traveller Community Project Tree Planting at the Cathedral

On World Mental Health Day the Clare Traveller Community Project, in association with other agencies, planted a tree in the grounds of the Cathedral to remember all travellers who have died by suicide. Defibrillator Installed at the Cathedral

October 10, 2024

In recent weeks, a defibrillator has been installed in the cathedral grounds, on the wall of the Cathedral House, opposite the Sacristy door. This has been made possible by the fundraising efforts of Bella and Denise Hehir, who organised coffee mornings, as well as contributions from EI Shannon and Cllr Mary Howard.

Church of Ireland Harvest Service

September 29, 2024

Fr Tom was invited by Rev Vicky Lynch of St Columba’s Church Bindon Street to celebrate the Harvest Service with the congregation of the Drumcliffe Union of Parishes. This year’s service was special as it was the occasion that the Church of Ireland used to acknowledge 65 years of faithful service of  Nigel Bridge.
